Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to our most common questions regarding shipping, customization, and the provenance of our handcrafted artifacts.
Which medium are the handicrafts made in?
The Company works on wood, bronze, brass, stone and paper.
Do you ship?
Yes, we ship the handicrafts that we manufacture across the globe. We have a professional team that packs, crates, insures and ships via sea and air. We have been doing this for the last eight decades.
Are the artefacts handmade?
Yes, our artefacts are handcrafted, with attention to traditional forms, details and finishing.
How are they different from antiques?
While antiques are original objects from an earlier period, artefacts reinterpret traditional designs for contemporary spaces.
Will each handcrafted piece look exactly the same?
Not necessarily. Since all pieces are handcrafted, slight variations in colour, texture and detailing are part of their character. This is a unique and exclusive feature that makes handmade objects desireable.
Who is the artist behind the artefacts?
Our artefacts are created in-house by a skilled team at our studio in Trivandrum. Different stages of the process—from design and drawing to rough cutting, finishing and covering—are handled by specialists within the team, bringing together traditional craftsmanship and careful attention to detail.
What is the production quantity of the artefacts?
Our artefacts are produced in very limited quantities. For most designs, only a couple of pieces are made each year. Over a ten-year period, the total production of a particular design may be as few as a dozen or two. This is much more exclusive compared to the limited editions offered by many international art brands, where “limited edition” refers to thousand pieces or more.
Why is there no return policy?
Each artefact is carefully handcrafted and produced by the artists with great devotion. Repeated unpacking and shipping make them prone to damages. We encourage customers to visit our store in person to view or reach out to us with any questions before purchasing. Our team will be happy to provide additional details, images or measurements to help with the decision.
Do you offer customisation?
Yes, we do offer customisation for artefacts above Rs.1 lakh depending on the piece and the nature of the changes requested.
What happens if the artefact arrives damaged?
Every artefact is carefully packed and securely shipped to ensure it reaches you safely. In the unlikely event that an artefact is damaged in transit, please contact us immediately with photographs of the packaging and the artefact. Our team will assess the damage and assist you with the appropriate resolution.
Preservation
Care & Maintenance Instructions
Essential care guidelines to preserve the beauty, craftsmanship, and longevity of your handcrafted artefacts.
How should I clean and dust my artefacts?
Wipe sparingly only when required, using a clean, soft, dry brush or lint-free microfiber cloth to gently remove dust. Strictly avoid using water, cleaning solutions, chemical sprays, or harsh detergents directly on the piece, as moisture and chemicals can strip natural finishes and degrade traditional patinas.
Can I use water, soap, or chemical cleaning solutions on my artefacts?
No. Strictly avoid using water, soap, commercial metal polishes, chemical sprays, or harsh cleaning detergents on any handcrafted artefact. Moisture and harsh chemicals can penetrate natural wood grain, strip protective organic waxes, and permanently erode or alter authentic patinas. Periodic dry dusting with a clean, soft-bristle brush or lint-free microfiber cloth is all that is required for ongoing preservation.
How do I care for Wood sculptures and artefacts?
Wood pieces should be kept away from direct sunlight, heating sources, and damp or overly humid environments. Extreme shifts in humidity or temperature may cause the natural timber to warp, shrink, or develop micro-cracks over time. Dust gently with a soft dry cloth or bristle brush.
Can Bronze artefacts be kept outdoors? How do I maintain them?
Yes, bronze can be placed both indoors and outdoors. When placed outdoors, natural exposure to the elements will gradually develop a protective, organic patina, adding timeless character to the piece. This is suitable if an authentic, weathered antique appearance is preferred. For indoor display, simply dust occasionally with a dry cloth.
How should I care for Brass artefacts?
Brass artefacts should be kept strictly indoors in dry settings. Exposure to direct outdoor moisture, rain, or high humidity can lead to tarnishing and dulling of the traditional hand-buffed finish. Keep dry and dust regularly with a soft lint-free cloth.
How should Stone artefacts and traditional paintings be preserved?
Stone sculptures can be gently dusted using a dry soft-bristle brush; avoid placing liquids or oils on porous stone surfaces. For miniature paintings, Pichwais, and Tanjores, display in climate-controlled spaces away from direct sunlight and moisture to prevent pigments and natural dyes from fading.
